# Rich text

Words on a plain background: headings, paragraphs, buttons. For manifestos, announcements, or any message that doesn't need a photo.

**Where to use it:** anywhere you need to say something — between homepage sections as a brand statement, or as the intro on a landing page.

## Settings

* **Alignment** — left, center (default), or right.
* **Max content width** (400–1200 px, default 700) — how wide the text column gets. Around 700 px keeps lines comfortably readable.

### Section style

* **Top padding** / **Bottom padding** (0–120 px, default 64), **Background color**, **Text color**.

## Blocks

You can add multiple of each block and stack them in any order:

### Heading

* **Heading** (default "Talk about your brand").

### Text

* **Text** — rich text (default "Share information about your brand with your customers.").

### Button

* **Label** (default "Learn more") and **Link**.

💡 **Pro tip:** flip the section's background color to black and the text color to white for a bold interstitial band between lighter sections — a one-line manifesto in the theme's monospace type ("MADE IN SMALL RUNS. NEVER RESTOCKED.") is basically free art direction.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://sitesbyseth.gitbook.io/sitesbyseth-docs/skeleton/sections/rich-text.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
