# Product recommendations

A "You may also like" grid on product pages, powered by Shopify's recommendation engine — related products are picked automatically based on sales data and product similarity, and load in after the page renders. Cards follow your **Theme settings → Product cards** styling.

👉 **Customize → page selector → Products → Default product → Add section → Product recommendations**.

## Settings

* **Heading** (default "You may also like").
* **Products to show** (2–6, default 4) — also sets the number of desktop columns.

If Shopify has no recommendations for a product (very new stores), the section renders nothing — no empty box.

## Pro tip

💡 The product page's side rail already shows related products from the same collection, so this section is optional. It earns its place on stores where cross-collection discovery matters — the engine will happily suggest a jewelry piece under a jacket if buyers actually pair them.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://sitesbyseth.gitbook.io/sitesbyseth-docs/showcase/sections/product-recommendations.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
