# Collection list

A curated grid of collection cards — image + title, each linking to its collection. Unlike the automatic `/collections` page, *you* choose which collections appear and in what order (up to 12 blocks).

👉 **Customize → Add section → Collection list** (on pages that allow sections).

## Settings

* **Heading** (default "Shop by category").
* **Columns on desktop** (2–6, default 3). Mobile always shows 2 columns.

## Blocks

### Collection (up to 12)

* **Collection** — which collection this card links to.
* **Custom image** — optional; overrides the collection's featured image on the card.
* **Custom title** — optional; overrides the collection's name.

Cards fall back gracefully: custom image → collection's featured image → placeholder.

## Pro tip

💡 Use Custom images to keep the grid consistent — shoot (or crop) all your category tiles in the same ratio and lighting. Custom titles let you rename admin-speak like "SS26-drop-02-final" to just "Drop 02" without touching the collection itself.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://sitesbyseth.gitbook.io/sitesbyseth-docs/showcase/sections/collection-list.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
